(Closed for me and Jenna to begin with and then after the first page all Balto's pups and Balto, etc. This takes place shortly after "Back In Nome")
Dixie sat by herself not to far from where the dogs would normally start their race. The poor Pomeranian was confused. On the one hand Steele no matter what he did was still the most handsomest Wolf she had ever met. She felt so conflicted because she may have blown the one chance she had with him. On the other hand Dixie and Jenna were really close so as such she didn't want anything to happen to her or her pups or Balto or Balto's friends. Was sticking up for one of your closest friends and destroying a chance you had with a sled dog like Steele, better then turning her back on her best friend and keeping Steele?
Dixie thought the first one was better. And besides it was obvious he never fully liked her unless it was something he wanted her to do. Steele loved those little Mind Games. She looked around for Jenna. At a time like this she kinda needed Jenna to talk to right now.

"Dixie." Coming up behind her friend, Jenna gave her a distracted smile, although it was clear that the husky's mind was on other things. 'Other things' being Steele. The only reason he could be willing to show his face in Nome again had to be to get his revenge, and while Jenna wasn't one to give into excessive worry or paranoia, even she had to admit that she was distinctly unsettled by the large male's presence. Especially since she was certain that he would realise that the surest way to get at her and Balto would be through their pups. Even if most of them were full-grown by now, the red-furred female was still concerned for their safety with Steele on the loose.
Lost in her own thoughts as she was, it still only took Jenna a moment to realise that Dixie, too, seemed to have something on her mind - doubtless she was thinking about Steele as well, although Jenna could only guess at the content of those thoughts. "Is something bothering you, Dixie?" she asked.

Dixie gave Jenna a very warm friendly smile. "Oh, hi Jenna" She said obviously distracted by Steele. "Well.... it's just that well it took me so long to get over Steele. And now that he's back..... I just feel so.... I don't really know how to describe it. I know I did the right thing to tell your pups about Steele, but it's just that.... there's a part of me that still really likes Steele. Why did he have to come back? I was doing perfectly fine before he came back" Dixie said overcome by emotions that even she couldn't really put a paw on.

Jenna's lips pursed. She was still relieved that the smaller canine had stood up to Steele in warning her pups away from him, but the thought of one of her two best friends being attracted to the black-and-white husky was still not one she felt altogther comfortable with. Her answer, however, came quickly.
"There's only one reason he could be back; for revenge." she replied. "Balto showed Steele up for what he really was. I don't think he'd return unless he had some way to get himself back into the town's favour again; and that can only mean discrediting Balto." And herself too, possibly, although Jenna didn't voice that thought. She didn't want any of her friends worried for her when Balto was probably in greater danger from his old enemy - although she hadn't actually seen her mate around to warn him, yet.

"Well don't you worry about that. I knew what I was doing when I warned your pups and stood up to Steele. And I won't let anyone get hurt because of him. No matter how much I was attracted to Steele. I got over him once before and I will get over him again. But, you need to know that I would never let him hurt you or Balto, or your pups. As soon as I really know how he plans on getting his revenge I will fight the hardest way I can to make sure none of my friends get hurt. Besides, it's kinda obvious that the feelings I have for Steele is kinda one sided. And I am not the type who's gonna cry about it or follow him around like a little lost puppy. I am on your side forever and for always. I just need to find something or someone to help me take my mind off Steele" Dixie said.
