Name: Gothel
Age: Despite appearances, she is a around 400 years old
Basic Appearance: Gothel is a tall woman with a somewhat slender build and is actually rather beautiful if you don’t take into account her true nature. Her hair is long and curly, and it is typically kept down as opposed to being held back by any sort of hair band. Her eyes are a steely blue-grey in color. Her style of clothing seems a bit outdated, but Gothel prefers to wear a long, dark red dress with gold trimming around the neck and waist. She also wears a dark green hooded cloak on occasion, but usually only wears it while traveling.
Film: Tangled

Personality: Gothel is a manipulative, controlling, overprotective woman. She will not let anything get in the way of something she wants and isn’t against making people feel guilty to further manipulate them to do what she wants. Deep down, though, Gothel does have a caring side… she just tends to keep it hidden from most people. Gothel is also witty and blunt when she needs to be and is rather charismatic.
History: Hundreds of years ago, a strange phenomenon occurred. A single drop of sunlight fell from the sky and blossomed into the form of a magical golden flower. An old woman, seemingly insignificant in the long run, was the sole witness of this phenomenon and the only one to know of the flower’s magical properties. This was Gothel, and she kept the secret of the healing flower to herself to keep herself young forever. Up until that point, Gothel had been living a relatively normal life. With the golden flower’s help, Gothel was able to restore her youth and able to keep herself from dying.
After she discovered her personal ‘fountain of youth’, Gothel resumed her travels. She never spoke a word about what she had found and made sure to return to the flower when her aging became more and more evident as time went on. Unbeknownst to her, a kingdom had developed a hop, skip, and a boat ride away from the flower’s location and the queen of the kingdom was deathly ill. After restoring her youth once more, Gothel forgot to make sure she had safely hidden the flower once more. As a result, the flower was discovered and taken to heal the dying queen. Somehow Gothel was able to learn that the flower’s power had been passed on to the queen’s unborn baby, and when that baby girl, Rapunzel, was born she kidnapped her to insure that her youth would be maintained. She made sure to never cut Rapunzel’s hair because it would lose its power if she did.
Gothel made sure to keep Rapunzel hidden, wanting to keep the girl’s healing power to herself, and did a good job of doing so. It wasn’t until the day before Rapunzel’s 18th birthday that things went awry. After promising to get a special paint for Rapunzel’s birthday, which would require going on a three-day journey, Gothel discovered a riderless palace horse. Assuming the worst, Gothel hurried back to the tower where Rapunzel had been hidden… only to find that she had vanished. Discovering the crown of the missing princess along with a wanted thief poster hidden under the stairs, she knew Rapunzel had left the tower against her wishes. So, Gothel left in search of Rapunzel.
Along the way, Gothel learned that another pair of thieves known as the Stabbington Brothers were also after Flynn Rider, the thief that had accompanied Rapunzel. She promised the two that she would help get revenge on Flynn and offered a very valuable prize in exchange for helping her, and much to her delight they agreed. Shortly after making the deal with the two brothers, Gothel reunited with Rapunzel and tried to make her come back with her to the tower. Rapunzel, who happened to like her new found freedom, flatly refused. Gothel told her that she was only setting herself up for disappointment by putting her trust in Flynn, but Rapunzel refused to believe it. For the time being, it appeared that Gothel abandoned Rapunzel so that she could see the floating lights. However, that was not the case. She was merely waiting in the wings for Rapunzel to nearly be captured by the Stabbington Brothers only so she could rescue her. This was done after the floating lanterns display, and Gothel successfully returned Rapunzel to the tower while Flynn was captured as well and sentenced to be hanged.
However, something that Gothel didn’t expect happened. Rapunzel learned that she was the missing princess and revolted against her. Gothel took that opportunity to keep Rapunzel from escaping and planned on taking her to a place where they would never be found. Flynn did find them, but she stabbed him before he could try to help Rapunzel and planned on finally going through with her plan of hiding Rapunzel away elsewhere. However, just as Rapunzel was about to heal Flynn, Flynn cut her hair and in the process took away her healing power. Gothel was sapped of her youth and dying of old age shortly after, and as she began to age more and more rapidly she fell from the tower and subsequently turned to dust. It appeared as though that was the end of Gothel.
However, it was not the end. Far from the end, actually. Some time after her supposed death, Gothel found herself alive once more. To her surprise, her youth had been restored and she was no longer resting where she had initially perished. Instead, she found herself resting inside the tower. Whatever had happened, she was alive once more and she wasn't about to question why that was. Instead, Gothel focused her thoughts on what had happened to her. Rapunzel had betrayed her, Flynn had destroyed her means of staying young, and both had had a hand in killing her. She wasn't going to let that go without some kind of retribution. Gothel vowed to get revenge for what had happened to her, and so left the tower and went in search of Rapunzel and Flynn.
Family: Unknown
Friends: Left for roleplay
Enemies: Flynn, Rapunzel, Pascal, and Maximus
Sample Post: As she fell from the window of the tower, Gothel became more and more aware of the fact that she was dying. She had been betrayed. Betrayed by the girl she had treated as a daughter for eighteen years. What had Gothel's reaction been? Well, aside from falling out of the window it had been a horrific scream that had been her sole reaction. How could she? How could Rapunzel betray her after everything she had done for her? Never mind the fact that she had kidnapped her and torn her away from her real parents, Gothel had treated the girl as her own flesh and blood! What ought to have made some sort of difference!
But, it was for naught. She could feel her body falling apart as the last thoughts went through her mind. Revenge. She somehow wanted to get revenge for what had happened to her. And with that, what was left of her dusty body slammed into the ground. That was that. It was all over.

...
...
A sharp intake of breath pierced the silence that had filled the air after her fall. Gothel found herself shooting up into a sitting position, frantically feeling herself as her eyes adjusted to the dark. ...Whole. She felt whole. But that was impossible... wasn't it? She had felt herself falling apart. She had turned to dust! What was going on?
Gothel let her breathing return to normal as she began to look about the room she found herself in. It was her room. The very room of the tower she had used as her own when she had kept Rapunzel hidden away. Gothel was perplexed by this development. How had she ended up in the tower after everything that had happened?
Slowly, Gothel got off of her bed and took a few steps forward. Surprisingly, her movement wasn't all that shaky. It was as if she had never died at all. Even more surprising, her body appeared young again. It was as though she hadn't aged at all after Rapunzel's hair had been cut. Now she was truly intrigued. It appeared as though she had been brought back from the grave. The only question was why.
"...Does it really matter?" Gothel wondered out loud. She could finally exact revenge on Rapunzel and that thief boyfriend of hers. Yes, this was a brilliant plan. Of course she didn't know exactly how she was going to get her revenge, but she was convinced that she would have it. A dark smile formed on Gothel's face as she thought about what she would do. All she had to do was track down Rapunzel and go from there. "Mother's back."
