(ooc: January 1. Open to any character that would make sense being in New York, so mainly Oliver and Company characters.)
How long had it been since Oliver had last seen his friends from Dodger's gang? He couldn't even recall. ...Okay, so it hadn't been that long. Really it had only been a few days. The young kitten found himself padding along the busy streets of New York, on his way to find Dodger and the others so he could find out how they were doing. As far as Jenny knew, he was curled up on her bed and sound asleep for the time being. He didn't mean to make her worry, if she did worry, but Oliver wanted to keep in touch with Dodger. After all, the streetwise mutt did say he was a part of the gang. Surely that meant he could drop in every so often.
Unfortunately, Oliver still maintained a bit of his poor navigational skills. Spending time with Jenny really hadn't helped him all that much in learning to navigate the streets of New York without someone to guide him. Idly, Oliver wondered if Dodger would just happen to be around. That would make things a lot easier on the young kitten.
"Maybe he's not even here. Maybe... maybe I should just go back." Oliver said quietly. But the question remained. Which way was back?

Shuffling along the streets was the coolest canine that had ever graced the streets of New York City. He strutted his stuff with a stolen pair of sunglasses that had just so happened to fall off of a vendor's cart. His ears flopped playfully atop his head as he hummed his own little tune in his head.
Why should I worry, why should I-
His ears perked as he saw a little orange kitten. Oliver? He decided to try. "Hey kitty, whatchu doing out here by yourself?"

Oliver's ears perked as he whirled around, and soon he found himself facing a familiar canine. The little kitten beamed. It was exactly who he had hoped he would be running into! "Dodger!" Oliver greeted eagerly. He could hardly suppress a purr of delight as he went to Dodger's side, stopping himself short of rubbing up against the white and brown colored canine. Regaining his composure, or whatever composure he possessed, Oliver took a step back and smiled sheepishly. How would he explain what he was doing there?
"Well, I... I thought I could drop in on you guys. You know, 'cause you said you... you'd keep a spot open in the gang for me. B-but you see I uh..." Oliver's whiskers drooped a little as he explained, ears drooping practically in time as he shuffled his paws awkwardly. "...Got lost." he mewed. "I guess I still have a lot to learn, huh?" he asked. Oliver didn't think he was too far from home. He'd be able to find Jenny's house sooner or later. But, for the time being, little kitty was lost.

Dodger gave a sly grin to the kitten, lifting the sunglasses slightly up on the bridge of his nose. He scratched his belly with his back leg carefully. "Kid, you gotta learn some moves before you can just wander onto the streets of New York City by yourself," he said calmly, "How come you didn't just wait for me? I woulda taken you out instead of lettin' yerself get lost out here."
He shook himself slightly. "You do got a lot to learn kiddo," he said, "Come on. Old Dodger will take ya back home."

Oliver shook his head a little, admittedly ashamed that he had gotten himself lost. But at least Dodger wasn't irritated with him about it. That was a good thing. "I thought I remembered the way to where you guys live better than this." Oliver explained. Then again, he had only found the way to the gang's home once before because he had followed Dodger. The other time he had been was when he had been kidnapped... 'rescued'... whatever it was. "I guess I don't remember the way as well as I thought." he admitted sheepishly.
Though he was glad Dodger would be taking him back, Oliver was disappointed at the same time. He had thought for sure that the others would be there with Dodger. Where were they? How were they doing? Oliver supposed he would just have to go without knowing for the time being.

"Well Well Well." A tawny colored saluki strode into view. Rita had just been wandering the streets when she had just happened to hear that self-loving boast of a dog Dodger talking in one of the allies. Rita grinned. "Well if it isn't the orange kitten." she remarked. "What're you doing you far away from that cozy little home of yours? Tired of that kind of life already"

"Heh, Rita, chill," Dodger said with a laugh, peering at the saluki and giving her a wide grin. He placed his paw around Oliver's shoulder. "The kid was comin' to see us and he got lost see? Maybe we should take him home, huh?" He stood and rubbed against the saluki's side.
"Drop the tough girl routine, this is our kid we're talkin' to here," he said with a slick grin.

Suddenly, the goofy Great Dane bounded up to the gang, with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. "Oliver!" He said with a smile. Einstein was very excited to see the Kitten again. "How ya doin'?" Einstein asked, still excited. He was tempted to give him a good old slobbery lick with his big tongue, but he didn't want to embarrass the kid infront of the others.

"OOF!"
The squeaky-sounding bark of a cocker spaniel puppy came from behind the group, who had crash-landed on a pile of boxes in the alleyway. Danielle had gotten confused, and overwhelmed, and lost her footing... again. Needless to say, she was a bit embarrassed- she was almost never allowed out on her own in the New England town. She had gotten miniscule practice in when she went out to find the Junkyard Dogs that Scamp adn Angel were always talking to her about, but this was different. New York City was big and something was always going on- cars always moving, people walking at rapid paces... it was hustle-and-bustle and a little much for her to take in. But Danielle kept her head high. These obviously looked like street dogs! Street dogs she could join!
"Hey! Hey you!" Dani called to them. "Are you a street dog gang!?"

Rita gave a small smile. Okay, so maybe she did miss Oliver a little. She still didn't understand why Oliver would give up a life like this though just for one little girl. She grinned at Einstein as he bounded up from behind her. "Hey Einstein, glad you could make it." she greeted him. "Our little Oliver got lost and Dodger's trying to take him home."
Just then, Rita heard the loud sound of boxes falling over. She spun around to face a tiny cocker spaniel pup. "Who are you?" she asked, narrowing her eyes in suspicion. It was a rather scruffy little dog, but it was defintely a house dog considering the white collar that hung around it's neck.

"Rita! Einstein!"
Oliver was glad to see two more of his friends had shown up. He purred in delight, tail flicking from side to side in a pleased manner as he took a step closer to the Great Dane. He listened as Dodger explained, giving a nod after a moment to confirm what he had said. "Y-Yeah... I still like living with Jenny, and even Georgette, but I thought I should drop in on you guys. You know, because... it's been a while since I last saw you guys." Oliver explained. He wanted to say more, but the arrival of a cocker spaniel caught him off guard. Within a matter of moments, Oliver scrambled behind Einstein and poked his head out from behind the Great Dane, looking over the scruffy little dog with a sort of uncertain look.
She didn't look like she was from around New York. Maybe she was lost too. "Wh-who are you?" Oliver asked her.

Flicking his ears up the mix breed saw the cocker pup rush up and ask were they a gang of street dogs. It was insane. How did this dog know they were friendly. He was determined to figure out who she was.
"A collar," Dodger said, "You're a housedog ain'tcha? What'chu doin' so far away from home kid? And how do you know we're friendly? You should be more careful!"

A scowl crossed her face. Typical. They were doubting her!
"HEY! I'm NOT some housedog! At least... not anymore I'm not! I ran away from my home!" Danielle growled, getting up. "I ran away because nobody cared for me! I wanted to join the street dogs. To join the outcasts. Like... like you guys." She shuffled her paws a little. "But just because I'm considered to be a housepet by you guys doesn't mean that I'm not tough!" she yipped back, a fierce growl in her throat. "I'll have you know that my daddy was the best street dog that ever lived!"

Rita listened to the young coker, then started to laugh. "You know what, this kid got spunk." she said grinning, putting a paw around Danielle's shoulder. She looked back at Dodger. "Maybe she could hang with us a little. Oliver too if he wants." (ooc: short post is short. I'm trying to find my muse again.)

Dodger raised an eyebrow and smiled down at the cocker pup. His tail wagged slightly. He shrugged. "Alright," he said, "You can hang with us for a bit kid. We'll see if you got what it takes to be a street dog in New York." Lifting his head and starting to trot down the streets he asked Danielle:
"So where you from kid?"
